Third-party Candidates Acknowledge Their Challenge, But Still Share Optimism for Major Change

RadioWest Story Introduction: October 11, 2000
By Doug Fabrizio

It really wouldn't be difficult to get a third-party candidate to talk to you. Left out of debates and ignored by the press, most are eager to let you know what they think. So we gathered two of the many to talk about the challenges of mounting a third-party campaign. We asked Andrew McCullough, the Libertarian candidate for attorney general to join us, and Randall Tolpinrud, the Natural Law candidate for the 3rd Congressional District. Tolpinrud says that without third parties, the country wouldn't have had an abolition movement, suffrage or Abraham Lincoln for that matter. But he says it's still almost impossible for alternative views to crack through the country's political system.
